Showcasing Philanthropic Businesses Donating a % of Profit to Charity

Below is a list of businesses that donate a percentage of their annual profits to charity. In today’s business environment, where company profits often take priority, these businesses demonstrate that success can coexist with social responsibility and put people before profits.

Patagonia

They are a B Corp and a 1% for the Planet Member. In 2022, founder Yvon Chouinard decided to transfer ownership to a not-for-profit and a trust. This ensures that all of Patagonia’s profits go towards combating climate change.

Innocent

Innocent Drinks donated 10% of their annual profits to charity, and from 2013, Innocent committed to £950,000 given annually to the foundation, even in years when no profit is made. They have two goals: to stop children dying of hunger and to help the poorest families to feed themselves. They have a strict selection process and choose to fund well-designed projects that solve a problem in a target location and have the ability to be scaled up and replicated.

Gamely

Gamely are a family-run party games company founded by Hazel Reynolds and based in Brighton. Since Hazel started Gamely back in 2015 they’ve been giving away 10% of profits to charity each year. To date, they have donated over £100,000. Charities Gamely have supported include Play Action International, Sanku – Project Healthy Children, Evidence Action and Living Goods. Several of the charities they support are recommended by Peter Singer’s organisation, The Life You Can Save.

White Stuff donates at least 1% of its annual profits to charity. Between 2010 and 2022, it donated over £4 million to local charities in the UK.

Ben & Jerry’s

They donate 7.5% of their pretax earnings to charity. They also use Fairtrade Certified Ingredients and are a B Corp Certified Company.

Tony’s Chocolonely

Their mission is to make all chocolate 100% slave-free. They also donate 1% of annual Turnover to the Chocolonely Foundation, which supports projects and organisations contributing to decent livelihoods in cocoa-growing communities in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana.

Lemonaid and ChariTea

Each bottle of the Lemonaid and Charitea contains only organic ingredients that are Fairtrade-certified
For every bottle bought, 5p is donated to the Lemonaid and ChariTea Foundation, which supports local initiatives that work to improve social, economic, and ecological structures.

Pukka is a certified B Corp that donates 1% of its sales to environmental causes and charities. It also uses Fair-wild certified ingredients, which means the collectors do not overharvest a plant, allowing natural regeneration.

TOMS

For every pair of shoes sold, TOMS gives away a pair. TOMS also donates 1/3 of its profits to grassroots goods.
